The Final Straw
I’ve had enough. Run as far away from Registerfly as you can. Thats exactly what I’ll be doing over the weekend. I’m moving this domain to a different registrar because Registerfly, whom I’ve been a loyal customer for some years now, is sinking faster than a new Milli Vanilli record and causing 10 kinds of hell in the process for it’s customers. That includes me.
This Just In: Registerfly forgets “Blaze of Glory”, Goes Down Anyway
I’ve been crossing my fingers hoping the inevitable demise of Registerfly wouldn’t be so inevitable. Wishful thinking on my part.
I’ve been a happy Registerfly customer for some time now, but over the past year it has been getting worse. Infighting in the company has left their customers running like refugees. Its gotten so bad that some companies are even offering special transfer rates for RF customers and advertising it explicitly on their homepage.
Where Did My Site Go?
This past week I noticed this site along with a few others was randomly going in and out for me. I ended up having to add a host entry just so I could access this site consistently. I thought it was a problem on my end because other folks could access my site just fine.
After trying everything under the sun to no avail, I resorted to the the Apple docs on troubleshooting the issue which confirmed that I did indeed have a DNS issue:
http://17.254.0.91
If that address takes you to www.apple.com, then you most likely have a DNS issue and need to continue reading this document.
The final straw, and the conclusion is that I’m not the only one with the problem.
I’ll Be Back
I’m gonna try and move my domain names to a different registrar over the weekend. Hopefully it will be a smooth process and I should be back in business asap. If your unable to access this site, try again on occasion and it should come around.

Discussion
Duh. Of cause it does. This is meant in the “if www.apple.com does not show the Apple site, try this IP; if the browser then shows the Apple site, there is a DNS problem”.
Out-of-coffee error while reading the Apple doc? :-)
Martin: I reread the docs. And I see the duh! moment. ;-) I guess between the frustration and multiple things I was trying, I got my wires twisted in the process. Time to revamp this post a little.
My heart bled for you when I read your original “Fan, Meet Shit” post, and since then I’ve been hearing lots of chatter about Registerfly’s decline. Best of luck as you start making the switch; As huge a pain as that can be, the good news is that you’ll be putting this chapter behind you for good (knock on wood).

This is a horscenario for a website owner. Realizing the site is not availible. I found the way to your site… finally your site is somehow available within the Internet… hope this calms you down :o) Cheers Ralf
